FROM THE DEVELOPMENT LOG

What’s been happening.

A new home for the project

The playtest now has its own home at socom2unity.com. Existing accounts still work. New testers can ask for access in Discord, and the launcher handles updates.

Another pass on throwing grenades

Rifle and pistol throw animations now use their original motion channels. We checked release timing, the hand position, lean throws and the aiming arc. Opening a menu while charging no longer sends a grenade flying.

Fish Hook: less work behind the water

Sea reflections were being redrawn too often. They now reuse cached frames and skip hidden captures. The same pass tightened up vault alignment and the way bots approach breach points.

Glass, gates and getting unstuck

Fish Hook’s standalone panes now break and reset properly. Door movement, breach routes and low-clearance recovery have had another pass. Blizzard’s snow transitions also use the original vertex blending.

One launcher, fewer reinstallations

Windows gets a launcher installer. Linux gets a native launcher that runs the shared game build through Proton. Updates download changed data, and progress history stays in the app.

A little more life in the lighting

Light sources, bloom and world colour have been getting attention alongside the gameplay work. These are still development captures; there is plenty left to tune.
